Website Updates January 2024

Good Day, everyone; it’s Lea here. I’m just popping in to let you know I am working on updating the website. Please bear with me, and I will let you know when I am done. Until then, you might see things change a few times as I work with the Ministers. Our system is to post things, have them reviewed, and then make any changes requested by them. It has been a while since we did a good overhaul, updated current activities and photos, and took time to ensure everything presented here is accurate. So there are many things to do. I have made it a priority to keep the calendar accurate; however, it is always best to become a member so you get information through emails and attend the Sunday services. During the Sunday services, announcements are made, and information is relayed. I have activated comments for this post, and I welcome feedback if you find anything I have missed or any corrections on the new material. Rev. Lea Walters – Website Administrator

Reminder: Update Oct 14th, 2021

As promised here is our update! ‘When’ we can go back to having services the church will be following the provincial mandates, and requirements of the new location. The vaccine passport showing 2 doses is required by all and those not personally known to the greeter will also require a photo ID. The 5th Avenue Senior Center does contact tracing and our sign-up sheet includes room for new members to add in a phone number.  Masks remain mandatory.

Please respect this as we are legally required to follow the Senior Center’s plan implemented. Follow the website and your emails for updates…

Reminder: Changes that come with the new space:

  • There will be no coffee time after the service as another group follows us in and we need to clean up and vacate the space.  We hope you will take the opportunity to join with other church members to socialize at our local restaurants after the service.
  • There will be no service on the 2nd Sunday of each month, as the Seniors Centre has a public pancake breakfast that day.  It will be great to join them to meet fellow 5th Avenue members and in doing so, create interest for our community.
  • There will be no Tuesday night events as we are reopening in the new location slowly and as safely as possible.

Announcement: In Person Services return on September 17th

With an abundance of caution due to active fires, evacuation orders, smoke, personal illness and a long weekend in the mix, we have chosen to hold off in person services until September 17th.

I guess the bottom line is “life happens when your making other plans”! I will be sending out a written service to you all on Sunday and look forward with anticipation to seeing you on September 17th. In the meantime, take care of yourselves and know you are loved and thought of by all of us.

Don’t hesitate to contact Rev. Gloria if you have any questions.

Huge hugs to all!

In the meantime here is some inspiration from Thich Nath Hanh, chanted by brother Phap Niem.
